Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the
Senior Accountant - Consolidations and Corporate
will oversee and manage corporate accounting functions, with a focus on consolidations and corporate entity oversight. This role is instrumental in ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting while supporting the team’s workload in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting and audit background, exceptional systems proficiency, and the ability to contribute to both immediate workload relief and long-term strategic initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities/Key Results Areas
•Lead the company’s consolidated month-end accounting close and consolidation process and oversee corporate entity activities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
•Act as a subject matter expert for NetSuite and the NetSuite Account Reconciliation (NSAR) tool, supporting team members and process enhancements.
•Responsible for all corporate accounting functions and reconciliations, including cash, payroll, medical payments, and intercompany settlements.
•Collaborate with the M&A team and external consultants to support acquisition-related financial due diligence and integration efforts.
•Provide critical support during audits, including preparing deliverables, addressing follow-up requests, and participating in detailed discussions with auditors about acquisitions, valuations, and methodologies.
•Contribute to corporate initiatives such as cash automation, system implementations, and process improvement projects.
•Assist with the analysis and preparation of schedules for inclusion in monthly reporting packages that are presented to senior management.
•Collaborate with other departments to improve financial procedures and controls.
•Assist with testing relevant accounting system upgrades and enhancements. Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
•Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles and practices.
•Previous accounting close and consolidations experience required.
•Exceptional proficiency in accounting systems, preferably NetSuite, including setting up entities, accounts, departments, etc.
•Previous related experience with a large company and/or a large audit firm preferred.
•Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and reconciliation skills.
•Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a remote work environment.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong willingness to learn new skills and information.
•High level of initiative and problem-solving ability to address evolving corporate and acquisition-related challenges.
•Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights or weekends, as needed to meet deadlines or support business needs.
•Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications including performing financial and analytical computations.
Education and Experience
•Bachelor's degree in accounting.
•A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an energy company or a large company.
•Advanced proficiency in accounting/reporting software, preferably NetSuite.
•Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
•Working towards or holding a CPA or MBA designation is a plus.
