Position Specific Description

Nuclear 810 Compliance: US Citizen/Permanent resident only, have to clear Nuclear 810 background checks


Roles And Responsibilities

API Design and Development: Design, develop, and implement robust APIs that facilitate communication between various systems and applications. Ensure APIs are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
Integration: Integrate APIs with existing systems, third-party services, and client applications. Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues as they arise.
Collaboration: Work closely with front-end and back-end developers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the applications. Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers and other developers, to gather API requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation to support developers and end-users. Ensure that all APIs are well-documented, including usage instructions, code examples, and troubleshooting guides.
Testing and Maintenance: Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the APIs. Monitor and maintain APIs, troubleshooting and resolving issues to ensure high availability and performance. Implement version control and change management processes to manage API updates and releases.
Security: Implement security measures and best practices to protect APIs from vulnerabilities and ensure data integrity and privacy. Stay updated on the latest security trends and technologies to proactively address potential threats.
Performance Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize the performance of APIs. Identify and address bottlenecks and performance issues to ensure that APIs can handle increasing loads and complex queries.
Staying up-to-date with new technologies: Stay up-to-date with new technologies and trends, evaluating their potential to improve business operations, and making recommendations to senior management.


Skills

5+ years API development (experience with GraphQL a plus)
5+ years Node with TypeScript/JavaScript
5+ years SQL with relationship database (i.e. Postgres, Oracle)
Angular UI development (optional)
2+ years working with Cloud technolgies (AWS preferred)
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities. Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.


Preferred

Experience with microservices architecture.
Familiarity with API gateways and service mesh technologies.
Certification in relevant technologies or cloud platforms.
Experience with Agile methodology (Scaled Agile preferred)


Job Overview

Employees in this position define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software to help the business unit improve reliability, and drive efficiencies. This position works individually, and as part of a team using best practices in software development methodologies. Employees collaborate with other areas to understand requirements and drive continuous improvement of Smart Grid software applications.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

Supports daily system operations within a specify discipline on a continual basis
Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications consistently to specifications and development standards per specific discipline
Writes programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary
Assists in defining software development project plans, including scopes, schedules, and implementation
Liaises with network administrators, systems analysts, database administrators, external vendors, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems
Develops an understanding of relevant system administration tasks including backup/recovery of systems and disaster recovery
Designs, runs and monitors software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
Conducts research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement, development and maintenance efforts
Meets attendance and storm duty requirements and has the ability to work extended hours
Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

High School Grad / GED
Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
Experience: 4+ years
