What You’ll Do
As our Expansion Planning Engineer Co-op, you’ll take on impactful projects that sharpen your technical skills and expand your career opportunities. You’ll help analyze and model scenarios that guide MISO’s long-term planning, from integrating large loads to developing weather-dependent planning strategies.
You’ll Gain Hands-on Experience With
- Power system modeling tools such as PSS®E, EMS, and Python

Degree: Electrical Engineering
Required Technical Skills
- Completion of core engineering coursework such as circuits and power systems
- Exposure to or interest in Python, PSS®E, EMS, or other modeling systems
- Familiarity with system planning or modeling coursework/projects
- Interest in grid reliability and long-term system planning
- Curiosity, detail orientation, and self-motivation
- Excitement about applying engineering knowledge to support the power grid
- Alignment with MISO’s core values: Integrity, Commitment, Collaboration, Creativity, and Adaptability
