Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for daily environmental duties, including managing, maintaining, and improving the spill reporting and remediation program. The duties include understanding, tracking and communicating local, state and federal laws and regulatory requirements, identifying and implementing compliance program improvements, and providing training for employees and field compliance activities as necessary.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
•Responsible for filing spill reports to appropriate local, state, and federal governing agencies.
•Manage spill response and cleanup efforts while providing clear and concise guidance to field crews.
•Coordination and execution of sampling and analysis plans.
•Lead environmental site assessments, including the installation of soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells.
•Prepare written, oral, tabular, and graphic reports summarizing requirements and regulations.
•Responsible for keeping apprised of changes to local, state, and federal rules and regulations that have the potential to affect Civitas’s operations and compliance efforts.
•Responsible for working with EHS leadership to develop, update, and communicate changes to current efforts and/or best practices relating to environmental compliance and stewardship.
•Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with Civitas Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
•Assure work performed adheres to Civitas’ standards.
•Respond to field related environmental events and incidents.
•Creating solid working relationships with internal teams.
•Participate in and potentially lead field Root Cause Analyses for environmental events.
•Work with and direct field environmental consultants and subcontractors as needed.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
•Project management and data tracking.
•Experience filing spill reports (Form 19) and Site Investigation and Remediation Work Plans (Form 27) through ECMC Webforms application.
•Understanding of EPA RCRA, and CDPHE rules and regulations as it pertains to regulated and unregulated waste.
•Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
•Proven track record in developing and implementing environmental programs and initiatives.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor of Science in Geology, Environmental Science, or similar science focused field required.
•Minimum of 8 years of environmental experience with a detailed focus on upstream oil and gas operations.
•Certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are a plus.
Travel & Additional Requirements:
•Work is performed at a CIVI location Monday through Thursday with the option of working remotely on Fridays.
•Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9-hour workdays Monday through Thursday and 4-hour workdays on Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
•Travel may be required to other Civitas offices and field locations.

Base Pay Range: $95,000 - $115,000
