The Specialist/Consultant, Contracts Excellence will provide contracting support for the Procurement function with an emphasis on contract negotiation, strategy development, and the drafting and negotiation of terms and conditions and commercial agreements for a wide range of business projects. This role is also responsible for improving the contracting process and the development of training and supporting tools. This role will provide guidance and leadership to stakeholders while ensuring compliance with all relevant Procurement and contracting policies, processes, and procedures.
Leading/supporting Procurement teams in supplier contract negotiations through the development of negotiation strategies and front-line negotiation support for master agreements, scopes of work, and compensation agreements.
Negotiating a variety of agreement types including master agreements, professional services, software licensing, cloud services, non-disclosure, and other purchasing agreements.
Understanding company core contract clauses and positions and communicating and negotiating with 3rd parties seeking to perform work for Phillips 66. Core contract clauses include indemnity, insurance, warranty, tax, audit, intellectual property, etc.
Developing and maintaining contract templates to support business needs. Establishing alternative language for templates where appropriate.
Serving as an expert on agreement terms and conditions, compensation structures, and scopes of work for internal escalation support.
Developing training and resources to improve the overall contracting acumen of the Procurement organization.
Contributing to the continuous process improvement of the Procurement and Contracts Organization.
Special assignments upon the request of the supervisor (including travel) may be routinely required.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or relevant discipline
10 or more years of experience developing negotiation strategies, negotiating contracts, and contract development
Thorough understanding of contract terms and conditions and strong ability to coach and advise others on the application of the same
Strong negotiating skills with a proven track record of executing commercial negotiations
Working knowledge or firsthand experience with data privacy issues
Working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, and other sourcing and contracting systems
Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills (i.e. critical and evaluative thinking)
Capable of effectively developing and executing multiple contracts with varying complexity and the ability to constantly assess workload, balance client demands, and prioritize work to achieve success
Strong communication skills and proven ability to effectively manage internal and external clients and stakeholders at all levels
Networking and interpersonal skills that result in teamwork, trust, integrity, and strong relationships
