The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and supplier management of direct materials, MRO supplies, and Bill of Materials (BOM) components to support daily operations at our U.S. cell manufacturing facility in Shelbyville, Kentucky. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of goods and services through strategic sourcing, vendor negotiation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Execute purchasing of direct goods and services, including MRO, EHS supplies, equipment, and non-stock items needed for production support.
- Manage BOM-related purchasing tasks, including planning, forecasting, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure on-time availability of materials.
- Maintain accurate and timely purchase orders in SAP SRM; monitor material status, lead times, and inventory levels.
- Source new suppliers, request quotations, and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost-effective procurement.
- Evaluate vendor performance on delivery reliability, cost competitiveness, and product/service quality.
- Support cost analysis, pricing comparisons, and sourcing decisions for both indirect and BOM-related items.
- Resolve delivery issues, quantity mismatches, or quality discrepancies through supplier coordination.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, internal controls, and regulatory standards (ISO 9001).
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with planning, logistics, engineering, and production teams to align sourcing activities with business needs.
- Taking responsibility in onboarding and qualification of new suppliers and maintain supplier records/documentation.
- Identify process improvement opportunities in purchasing operations to increase efficiency and reduce procurement costs.
- Contribute to supplier audits and participate in weekly planning and purchasing reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- 1–3 years of purchasing or sourcing experience in a manufacturing or multinational company environment.
- Strong familiarity with BOM planning, MRO procurement, and indirect sourcing.
- Proficiency with ERP systems; SAP SRM experience highly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail; ability to troubleshoot procurement or supply issues.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal); Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
