Under general supervision, within assigned area, provide customer service, dispatch transportation and provide information to Solid Waste personnel and assigned field personnel.
General supervision is provided by the Solid Waste Manager.
1. Provide customer service, answer telephones, respond to inquiries and take messages by communicating with customers over the telephone and in person politely which entails explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures to the public.
2. Dispatch calls and information to solid waste field personnel and coordinates work route activities.
3. Assists customers with solid waste inquiries and provides efficient customer service.
4. Record information such as name, address, poly cart number, or service to be rendered.
5. Performs customer account processing work including verifying and maintaining customer field work orders.
16. Performs any other duties as required. Perform duties of immediate supervisor or coworkers as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences.
17. Maintains safe work practices according to District’s rules and policies.
18. Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
High School Diploma or GED, and one (1) year of experience involving public contact.

Environment: The Solid Waste Dispatcher functions in a professional office environment. However, other indoor and outdoor environments may be required due to the nature of the District’s business and various work locations. Travel from site to site may be required. May be exposed to noise, dust, and inclement weather conditions.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office andfield environment; to stand, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and walk on uneven terrain, loose soil, and sloped surfaces; to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: Must be able tosee in the normal visual range, with or without corrective devices. Must be able to read.
Hearing: Must be abletohear in the normal audio range, with or without corrective devices.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety equipment includes hard hat, traffic vest, ear plugs, eye protection and safety shoes.
