What you will do


Role Overview:

Responsible for the on-site operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of solar field equipment at EDPR NA’s operating solar energy generation site. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, completing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, leading Tail Board meetings, and preparing job-specific documentation required to conduct solar turbine maintenance in the safest manner possible. The role also involves inspecting equipment, tools, and facilities to ensure compliance with EDPR policies and governmental safety and environmental regulations. This person must be a self-motivated, proactive individual with the ability to work safely and independently.


Main responsibilities:

Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of solar field equipment and associated plant components, including inverters, tracker systems, transformers, substations, and switchgear.
Proactively identify opportunities for process and procedural improvements, communicate suggestions through appropriate channels, or implement enhancements following the established control management protocol.
Read schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues related to inverters, tracker control systems, PV panels, and other components.
Perform mechanical and electrical repairs and replace parts to correct malfunctions in compliance with manufacturer requirements.
Gather and analyze information regarding solar performance and operational issues.
Diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions for routine to intermediate-level issues.
Seek assistance for issues beyond trained skill levels to ensure effective resolution.
Comply with all relevant environmental health and safety programs.
Act as a safety role model by encouraging and recognizing safe practices while intervening when unsafe behaviors occur.
Identify gaps in safety standards and potential risks in the work environment.
Implement risk mitigation strategies and provide recommendations to senior technical staff and management.
Maintain a strong commitment to integrity, initiative, safety, and quality of work.
Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals.
Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements.
Coordinate with EDPR’s Remote Operations Control Center as needed.
Conduct QA/QC inspections in compliance with applicable SOPs.
Ensure reliable electronic communication between the solar field, substation, site office, and home office.
Facilitate periodic equipment inspections and reporting.
Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures (SAP).
Adhere to internal controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Supervise on-site contractors to ensure compliance with EDPR’s policies and procedures.
Perform additional duties as required.

What are we looking for


Minimum Requirements:

Education: 1+ years of college or technical school education, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in solar energy or a related industry; renewable energy experience is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, SQL Server, facility management and reporting systems, and computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment, including voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, infrared testers, torque equipment, alignment tools, and various hand and power tools.
Experience operating heavy equipment required for facility maintenance, with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
Experience in power plant operations and maintenance, solar plant operations (specifically power inverters), high-voltage switching, and post-operational repair and maintenance of solar field components (preferred).
Software Knowledge: Understanding of Microsoft products and related software (preferred).
Competencies: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, communication skills, customer/partner relationship management, and technology expertise (preferred).


Travel:


Minimal, as needed.


Behavioral Requirements:

Driving: Ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
Electrical Work: Ability to work around low- and medium-voltage equipment.
Problem-Solving: Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to various situations with limited standardization.
Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally to other operational sites within the U.S. as needed.
Work Schedule: Willingness to work overtime, including holidays and weekends, and to be available on short notice for on-call scheduling.
Emergency Response: Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24/7 as needed.

Salary hiring range: $54,480.00 - $68,100.00

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of many compensation, benefits, and other reward opportunities we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
