The Solar Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial solar power systems. This role requires in-depth technical expertise in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. You will ensure that all solar systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction and system performance.
a. Perform diagnostics on solar PV systems, including inverters, panels, wiring, and monitoring equipment to identify issues.
b. Utilize electrical testing equipment, such as multimeters and circuit analyzers, to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions.
a. Conduct regular maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal system performance and longevity.
b. Identify and address potential issues before they impact system efficiency or safety.
a. Repair or replace defective components, wiring, and equipment, ensuring systems meet safety and performance standards.
b. Work with various solar monitoring systems and inverter brands, such as SolarEdge, Enphase, and SMA, to maintain compatibility and functionality.
a. Respond promptly to service calls, addressing and resolving technical issues on-site to maintain customer satisfaction.
b. Collaborate with the customer service team to provide support and address system underperformance concerns.
a. Test and measure electrical components to identify any safety hazards, ensuring all systems adhere to local electrical codes and OSHA regulations.
b. Follow company safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for both yourself and your team.
a. Complete accurate documentation of all repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities, including records of diagnostics and tests performed.
a. Assist with training new service technicians and provide technical support to the installation team as needed.
b. Stay current with solar technology advancements, tools, and best practices to maintain technical proficiency.
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in solar or electrical systems preferred.
· 2+ years of experience in solar installation, maintenance, or electrical work.
· Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical theory, and troubleshooting methods.
· Ability to use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and circuit analyzers.
· Familiarity with solar monitoring systems and inverter brands (e.g., SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA).
· Ability to work in various weather conditions and on rooftops.
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
· Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights.
· Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Ability to work in confined spaces or crawl spaces as needed.
