THE ROLE
The Solar Roof Lead will be part of Alternative Energy Southeast’s Field Operations team. As an integral member of the team, the Roof Lead will work cooperatively in a hands-on and supervisory role with other team members to successfully complete the installation of rooftop and ground mounted solar mounting equipment and appropriate PV system hardware. They must work safely and efficiently for residential, commercial, and government clientele. This open position is for someone with several years of existing Roof Lead experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Solar Roof Lead must know how to lay out and install PV system mounting equipment, MLPE, solar panels, and other DC-side system hardware on flat and pitched roofs in preparation for grid interconnection performed by electricians. The Roof Lead will also install safety equipment at each jobsite that will remain in place throughout project execution. The Roof Lead will conduct or attend team meetings when necessary as well as mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety. All AES employees are expected to provide an exceptional customer experience to all AES clients throughout the installation process.
· Proven history of being a Roof Leader.
· At least two years of experience in a non-supervisory role installing solar panels.
· The ability to safely handle tools and materials, e.g. ladders, power tools, inverters, solar panels, and other similar equipment such as lumber, roofing materials, aluminum rails, etc.
· The ability to work in outdoor environments throughout the year (e.g. hot sun, cold temperatures). Workdays are typically called off for rain unless there’s inside work that can be done.
· Capable of working on rooftops and performing repetitious duties including lifting/bending and standing for long periods of time.
· Experience using basic hand and power tools required.
· Must have communication and leadership skills and be able to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
· Must be able to travel to out-of-town projects when needed (up to 20% travel).
· Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screening requirements.
BENEFITS, COMPENSATION, HOURS
Health, dental, vision, and life insurance (AES pays 80%, employee 20%), 40-60 hours paid vacation, 6 paid holidays, training and tuition assistance. Employee must be employed by AES for 90 days before eligible for some benefits.
The pay for Solar Roof Lead ranges from $26-$32/hr. Starting wage based on prior experience with a 90-day probation period where management will determine your ability to perform the responsibilities listed above.
Full-time position working 40-60 hours per week. Typical schedule is Monday – Thursday, four 10-hour days.
