Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Shift 7/7 – 12 hour days

Position Reports To:

Site Services Supervisor

Position Overview

Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for operating all Site Services mobile equipment, road maintenance, site snow clearing and brush clearing, assisting in the building and maintenance of pipelines and the placement and fueling of pumps, light plants, gensets and heaters.

- Camp and travel are not provided. Preference may be given to candidates who reside within the Rainy River district.

Key Responsibilities

- Check equipment using approved circle check procedures before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

- Use of hand shovels to clear doorways and staircases of snow and apply salted sand or salt as required.

- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.

- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisors in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.

- Disable cellular phones and other sources of distraction at all times while operating equipment.

- Diagnose/identify defects in heavy duty equipment.

- Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work.

- Other related duties to support the team as required to ensure a safe, efficient and productive environment which contribute to the success of the Rainy River Mine.

Qualifications

- Must have previous experience operating at least one of the following equipment: front end loaders, skid steer

- Valid Class G Drivers’ License

- Proven leadership and understanding of human behaviour

- Strong communication skills

- Demonstrated leadership in safety is essential in this role

- Demonstrated leadership in environmental management, such as dealing with environmental spills, and sediment and erosion protection.

- Strong drive to learn new skills

- Willingness to take on progressively more responsibilities as they grow and develop with the company

- Aptitude for mechanics with the ability to handle heavy machinery

- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage

- Ability to work with minimal supervision

- Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labour

- Ability to work under pressure and produce high quality work within time constraints.

- Ability to work in all weather conditions
