Universal Plant Services in Deer Park Texas is currently seeking a Shop Mechanic to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintaining and repairing industrial machinery, including pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, turbines, and other rotating equipment. The Shop Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently and safely.

Please Note Relocation assistance and per diem are not provided for this position. Candidates must currently reside within the Houston Texas region to be considered.

Essential Job Requirements:

- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, turbines, and other rotating machinery.

- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.

- Utilize precision tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.

- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

- Document all repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts used in accordance with company procedures.

- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and efficient completion of work orders.

Required Education

- High school diploma required; or equivalent

Qualifications:

- 5 years or more of Mechanic experience working on pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, turbines and rotating equipment.

- NCCER Millwright certification helpful.

- Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.

- Supply your own basic mechanic tools.

- This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40+ hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on business needs.

- Must be willing to work overtime when needed.

- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel).

- Customer oriented and show strong motivational leadership and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed

Physical Requirements

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.

- Must be able to frequently climb a ladder

- Stand for long periods of time.

- Use repetitive hand motions.

- Prolonged use of the computer.

Equipment Used

- Knowledge of Manual machine tools, precision, and measurement equipment

- Knowledge of rotating equipment types, lifting & handling equipment, and other related tools/software

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a shop environment.

$70k-$100k
