As part of INTEGRA’s Western Canada Mechanical operations, the Shop Laborer supports the effective operations and sustainability of the service and rentals division. This role ensures the testing, maintenance and functionality of equipment, coordinates inventory management, and the smooth functioning of the shop.
· Prepare equipment for field services and rentals. This includes generating packing slips, attaching calibration certificates, updating asset tracking sheets, and coordinating the pick-up of rental equipment.
· Inspect and clean shipping containers to ensure they are presentable prior to dispatching equipment.
· Receive and inspect returned equipment from field services and rentals. Verify that all equipment is accounted for, update asset tracking records, conduct testing, log/tag, and return equipment to shop inventory.
· Maintain accurate records of equipment status, including assets on jobsites, in transit to other locations, under repair, or available for use.
· Identify damaged equipment and coordinate repairs internally or through approved third-party vendors. Update maintenance records accordingly.
· Coordinate tool repairs with external vendors, including requesting quotes for parts, repairs, and temporary rental equipment as needed.
· Perform tool maintenance, including detailed documentation of repairs, cleanings, and testing. Ensure all equipment is clean, rust-free, properly painted, and labeled with INTEGRA identifiers before returning to inventory.
· Assign serial numbers to new assets, engrave identifiers, and update inventory records to reflect additions.
· Assist with shipping and receiving, including arranging transportation through third-party logistics providers.
· Manage all shop-related documentation such as shipping forms, rental agreements, repair logs, maintenance tags, maintenance logs, and inventory control records.
· Maintain shop cleanliness, ensuring the work area remains organized, safe, and presentable at all times.
· Monitor and maintain company vehicles, ensuring regular servicing, oil changes, cleanliness, and accurate service records prior to dispatch.
· Perform testing, maintenance, and minor repairs on portable machining and bolting equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems).
· Schedule and maintain calibration of gauges, levels, power heads, and other equipment, ensuring compliance with calibration schedules.
· Expedite the delivery and pick-up of tools, equipment, and parts to job sites as required. This may include occasional out-of-town travel.
· Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge of mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures.
· Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent; technical college education or trades training is preferred.
· Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems is required.
· Previous experience with small tool repairs is considered an asset.
· Experience in shipping/receiving and inventory management is an asset.
· Previous experience in portable machining and bolting equipment testing and repair is an asset.
· Must be willing to learn, listen, and take direction from peers and supervisors, including field technicians and shop leads.
· Strong work ethic with consistent punctuality; must be reliable, show up on time, and ready to work each day.
· Must be open-minded and able to work respectfully in a diverse and inclusive work environment, including working alongside individuals from different backgrounds, cultures, and gender identities.
· Ability to remain focused and productive without unnecessary distractions, including limiting personal phone usage during working hours.
· Ability to remain professional and composed when field personnel are present in the shop assisting with equipment repairs; must recognize and respect the nature of a shared work environment.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Must be willing and able to travel for occasional out-of-town assignments.
· Must complete Integra-provided training, including hydraulic pump, nut runner, hydraulic wrenches & tensioners repairs and tool calibration.
· Completion of Integra Safety Training is required, with demonstrated ability to apply safe work practices daily.
