Supervises and coordinates all activities of shipping and receiving associates engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties. Also, assumes responsibility for general housekeeping duties and striving toward continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Inspects daily shipping schedules to customer requirements to assure all customer requirements are being met.
Analyzes daily shipping schedules and estimates associates working hours requirements for completion of shipping assignments.
Supports Production Control with shipping, tracking and transportation. Recommends measures to improve shipping methods, equipment and performance.
Analyzed and recommends changes in working conditions and utilization of equipment to increase throughput of shipping department and associates.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists associates in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate rush jobs that need to be shipped oversees all shipping and packaging materials to assure minimal dollar investment while maximizing customer deliveries.
Monitors finished goods inventory record accuracy and assures timely reconciliations of discrepancies and adjustments.
Maintains time, attendance and production records for all shipping/receiving associates supervised.
Performs activities of associates supervised and reconciles issues with shipping department regarding bar-code printers, shipper printers and simple software issues.
Performs departmental reviews in accordance with established guidelines and time frames.
Holds regular communication updates with all department associates.
Manages the shipping department in accordance with budgets, policies and established guidelines. Schedules vacations so as to assure adequate functional support.
Promotes and maintains the shipping department to assure a clean and safe working environment.
Assists in the preparation of and insures conformance to applicable procedures and job instructions.
Responds to requests for corrective action in a timely fashion.
Directly supervises approximately 22 employees in the Shipping and Receiving Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
