Scotia Recycling Limited (SRL), a member of the Scotia Investments Limited (SIL) family of companies, is an operator of Atlantic Canada’s leading recycling facilities located in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. With an approximate workforce of 200 dedicated employees, we specialize in the collection, processing, sales, and brokerage of recyclable materials, and are a proven industry leader that have been in operation since 1976.We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our growing team to fill the role of Shipping/Receiving Operator Reporting to the Facility Operations Supervisor.
Summary of Duties:·
•Work in a safe and efficient manner and strive to increase production.
•Must be able to sort and move products and materials by hand or with material handling equipment in an efficient and careful manner.
•Must be aware of surroundings and be alert.
•Visual inspections and responsible to report any deficiencies, damage with equipment including pre-shift reports on mobile equipment.
•Report all incidents/accidents and illnesses immediately to a supervisor.
•Must wear required PPE and adhere to all safety regulations and policies/procedures.
•Must follow operating procedures for mobile equipment.
•Must keep work area tidy and clean (no clutter).
•Takes a positive approach to work assignments and treats co-workers, customers and management with tact and respect.
•Must follow all company Policies and Regulations.
•All other duties assigned by the supervisor are safe and reasonable.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possesses a forklift/skidsteer certificate from an approved company/school. With a minimum of 2 years’ experience handling and maintaining a warehouse.*
•Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time, some twisting, bending, squatting, lifting and climbing in and out of mobile equipment.
•Possesses hand eye coordination.
•Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
•Ability to use basic technology for data input and tracking.
•Ability to learn repetitive duties quickly and carry them through independently.
•Must be able to work in hot and cold weather and able to complete medium to heavy work (up to 50 lbs).
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an industrial building, at times amid noise levels (under 85 dBA), moving mechanical parts, in conditions such as high humidity, odors, dust and exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Some work is outside, in all weather conditions.
Equipment Operation: Skidsteer (Bobcat), forklift, Broom, Rakes, Shovels, etc.
