Steel City Solar is a fast-growing solar energy company committed to empowering homeowners and businesses with clean, reliable energy. We’re expanding our service division and need a skilled technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize solar systems across Southern Colorado.

Job Summary

You’ll be the frontline hero ensuring our clients’ solar systems perform flawlessly. From routine maintenance to emergency repairs, you’ll diagnose issues, replace components, and educate customers—all while upholding our reputation for exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostics & Repairs (70%)

Perform system health checks (using tools like SolarEdge Monitoring).

Troubleshoot inverter failures, wiring faults, and panel underperformance.

Replace defective components (microinverters, optimizers, breakers).

2. Preventative Maintenance (20%)

Conduct bi-annual panel cleanings and torque checks.

Test battery storage systems (Tesla Powerwall, etc).

Inspect roof penetrations for leaks or wear.

3. Customer Interaction (10%)

Explain technical issues in simple terms

Qualifications:

Must-Haves:

2+ years in solar/electrical field service (or relevant certifications like NABCEP PVIP).

Proficiency with multimeters, IV curve tracers, and IR cameras.

Ability to work on rooftops (OSHA 10 certification preferred).

Clean driving record (you’ll drive a company van).

Nice-to-Haves:

EV charger or battery storage experience.

HVAC/energy efficiency knowledge (helps with bundled services).
