The Propane Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial propane systems. This includes setting tanks, running gas lines, troubleshooting equipment, and responding to service calls — all while ensuring compliance with NFPA 58, OSHA, and DOT safety regulations.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for someone who enjoys working independently, thrives on problem-solving, and values building lasting relationships within the community.
- Install, maintain, and service propane tanks, gas lines, regulators, and appliances.
- Perform system checks, leak tests, and tank inspections in compliance with NFPA 58 and company safety policies.
- Troubleshoot and repair propane systems and appliances efficiently and safely.
- Set and relocate propane tanks using company equipment in accordance with DOT safety standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance on company vehicles and service equipment.
- Accurately document all service work, inspections, and customer interactions.
- Keep service vehicles clean, organized, and fully stocked with proper inventory.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to handle emergency after-hours service requests.
- Support fellow team members with fuel delivery or tank installations when needed.
- Represent Cherry Energy’s values by providing safe, respectful, and high-quality service at every customer interaction.
- Maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat (H), Tanker (N), and Air Brake endorsements, as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
- Comply with DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and maintain accurate driver logs (paper or ELD).
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT standards.
- Participate in required random DOT drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and NFPA 58 guidelines for the safe transport, installation, and handling of propane.
