New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a Service Product Owner (PO), responsible for creating a product roadmap and defining the strategic vision for the product, ensuring alignment with overall business needs. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the product and industry, and will build close relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the team's efforts are aligned with its strategy. This role involves working closely within the team to translate business value and user feedback into new development as part of a multi-year customer and system transformation. The PO will be accountable for specific business outcomes.
Major Responsibilities
• Lead innovation and manage end-to-end product launches.
• Define requirements with a business mindset while understanding technical complexity.
• Utilize market and industry knowledge to translate user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Make quick decisions to avoid becoming an impediment.
• Facilitate release planning with appropriate stakeholders.
• Provides transparency by escalating business or product impediments early and often.
• Collaborate with other Product Owners to determine prioritization, manage product backlog, schedule software releases, and understand dependencies with other teams.
• Responsible for product specific KPIs once the solution has been put in place in production and communicate to appropriate stakeholders.
• Accountable for product backlog grooming and refinement within agile practices.
• Work closely with leadership to establish business value and outcomes, including communication and customer outreach.
• Provide decision support analysis for key decisions.
• Inspect product progress throughout the development cycle.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of six to eight years of experience in a related field, including two or more years in a product owner/business process improvement role.
• Experience in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and customer self-service portal implementation, preferably within the utility industry.
• Strong customer relationship skills and the ability to develop and foster relationships with clients and team members.
• Strong project management, analytical skills and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of target industry is preferred.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, work on ambiguous projects, make decisions, and convince stakeholders to follow recommendations.
