YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the TMA Manager you will be part of the Tailings Management Area Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
•Develop and implement comprehensive water management strategies for Detour Lake Mine
•Manage and monitor water-related infrastructure to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
•Ensure all water and tailings management activities adhere to local, national, and international environmental regulations and standards
•Support the Environment and Sustainability Department by collaborating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals
•Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary teams comprising geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, environmental scientists, and other professionals
•Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules, and oversee their execution to ensure timely and successful project completion
•Manage contractor selection, procurement, and performance to achieve project objectives
•Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in water and tailings management
•Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members
•Conduct research and analysis to solve complex technical challenges related to water and tailings engineering
•Identify potential risks associated with water and tailings management and develop strategies to mitigate them
•Participate in safety assessments, emergency response planning, and disaster recovery exercises related to water and tailings facilities
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related Engineering discipline and eight years of related experience in Engineering or related field
•Master's degree in civil engineering or related Engineering discipline and five years of related experience in Engineering or related field
•Professional Engineer designation or ability to obtain P.Eng. within a year
•Knowledge in the principles and practices of Civil, Hydrologic, Geologic, Geotechnical, or Engineering or a related field of Engineering
•Able to demonstrate technical competence through design and/or operations experience in at least one of the following work areas: mine site water management, tailings storage, water dams, reclamation and closure planning for tailings facilities
•Knowledge of appropriate software (Required: AutoCAD, Nice to have: GoldSim and Muk3D)
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule:
•Schedule: Regular work week of four 4 days on, followed by 3 days off followed by regular work week of 5 days on followed by 2 days off or 4 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 3 days off.
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
