Senior Telecommunications Technician/Electrician – North Dakota (Contemplative Vacancy)
Schedules shall be any combination of eight, ten- or twelve-hour shifts.

GRE has an opening for a Senior Telecommunications Technician/Electrician to provide for the operation, installation, testing, checkout and maintenance of telecommunication and associated equipment on the GRE system. Responsible for working safely independently, safely as a member of the crew and directs co-workers in a safe manner while following GRE safety rules, procedures, and guidelines. Keeps supervising manager informed of overall conditions and status of work activities.
· Directs, performs, and/or assists in the installation, testing, checkout and maintenance of telecommunication equipment such as fiber optics systems, network routers and switches, modems, electrical and network cabling, wireless access points, point to point radio, voice and data systems, supervisory controls and data acquisition (SCADA), digital and analog equipment, mobile radio systems, phone systems, mobile telematics, LTE amplifier, telecommunication generators, batteries and chargers.
· Coordinates work activities and provides work direction to co-workers in the field.
· Develops and updates maintenance procedures along with maintaining equipment records in area of responsibility.
· Performs all other related duties and special projects as assigned by the supervising manager.
Minimum education requirements include a two-year telecommunication, or networking technology, or related degree; or a diploma and/or certifications with 3+ years’ experience and knowledge in telecommunications, networks, or wireless communications.
· Knowledge of RF, IP networks and SCADA systems.
· Ability to install, operate, and maintain RF equipment.
· Ability to install, operate, and maintain trunk mobile radio equipment.
· Ability to install, operate, and maintain MPLS/fiber network equipment.
· Ability to install, operate, and maintain SCADA.
· Ability to install, operate, and maintain IP Networks.
· Knowledge of AC and DC circuits including Ohm’s law.
· Knowledge of safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
· Knowledge of AC power measurement, familiarity with inductance, capacitance, and power factor.
· Skilled at effective communication that includes good interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication.
· Skill and ability to use personal computers and related software including test equipment software, asset management software, Windows-based programs, and email.
· Ability to perform “switching personnel” duties when required.
· Ability to coordinate work or tasks and delegate if needed to appropriate personnel.
· Ability to be self-motivated and be able to work alone without direct supervision.
· Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license to perform the essential job functions.
· Ability to maintain a current medical card to perform the essential job functions.
· Knowledge of high voltage electrical equipment.
· Skill and ability to read circuit diagrams, prints, and drawings.
· Ability to distinguish colors on wires, control panels, and equipment.
· Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following GRE safety rules, certifications and procedures.
· Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents.
· Ensure employees and contractors are aware of and adhere to security processes and procedures.
Working conditions will be indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions. There will be some overnight travel, overtime and/or working weekends. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. This job requires the ability to climb, work heights and work with arms above your head. Ability to kneel and squat on a frequent basis is required along with occasional work in confined space areas. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
