Job Summary

As a leader of the M&R and Gas Plants team, the position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of metering & regulating stations and peaking plants in the southern region. Responsible for Bargaining Unit and MAST personnel and coordinate all the work necessary for the safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective operation of 15-23 natural gas metering and regulating stations. The position provides oversight and coordination of all activities related to the successful completion of the required maintenance and project work.

Successful candidate will support the Gas Transmission & Distribution Engineering leadership team in accomplishing the desired scorecard results and ensure the quality of work performed is in compliance with all Company standards, procedures, safe work practices, and government laws and regulations. The position is responsible for developing MAST and Bargaining Unit personnel. Responsible to drive accountability for the company policies and apply the Gas Plants CBA.

This position is also responsible for the supervision of bargaining unit employees during the operation and maintenance of propane-air peaking plants. Reporting to an alternate work location may also be required.


Job Responsibilities

Direct/coordinate metering and regulator supervisors, engineering assistants and maintenance crews in the performance of work necessary to provide safe and efficient operation of all metering and regulating stations, LNG/LPA peak shaving plants and supporting facilities which supply gas to the Gas Transmission and Distribution systems, electric generating stations and industrial and cogeneration customers.

Determine work schedules, personnel assignments and plan to coordinate, initiate and direct activities for all work and actions being performed in Metering and Regulating stations and peak shaving plants.
Coach and evaluate direct reports work performance. Make recommendations for promotions and positive discipline.
Working understanding of the Gas Plants 855 Agreement.
Develop and conduct operations, maintenance and emergency training programs.
Supervise inspections, equipment revisions and monitor component/facility performance.
Administer the collection of data, trouble reports and test results.
Prepare, initiate and coordinate procedures to maintain station/plant reliability, performance and safety.
Study problem areas, evaluate troubleshooting techniques and recommend final solution.
Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls.


Job Specific Qualifications

High School Graduate

Demonstrated knowledge of Metering and Regulating stations, LNG/LPA operations, maintenance, procedures, standards and practices. Excellent mechanical, control instrumentation and electrical background
12 – 15 years gas operations experience
Strong hands on mechanical, instrumentation, electrical background and front line supervisory skills
Must have obtained an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor’s Test within the last two years or must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor’s Test
Must have a valid driver’s license


Desired:

Computer skills and two year technical college degree or attending technical school training
