Position Overview:
We are seeking a licensed Senior Structural Engineer with 7–12+ years of experience to lead the structural design and delivery of complex energy and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on tracker foundation systems, structural remediation, and project oversight—but also includes a broader scope of structural analysis, detailing, and engineering support across diverse project types.
This position offers the opportunity to serve as both a technical lead and mentor, and to help shape the next generation of ANS Geo’s structural team.
Key Responsibilities:
Structural Design Leadership:
•Lead structural design for tracker foundations, equipment pads, retaining walls, and specialty solar structures
•Analyze geotechnical inputs (e.g., ad-freeze, corrosion, expansive soils) and translate findings into practical designs
•Review pile testing results and provide structural remediation recommendations when piles fall outside spec
•Stamp and/or review structural calculation packages and design documents
•Own delivery of structural milestones from concept through IFC
Project Management & Oversight:
•Manage structural scopes across multiple projects simultaneously
•Coordinate closely with internal civil and geotechnical teams for integrated foundation solutions
•Support and lead milestone meetings, design reviews, and client presentations
•Review project progress, identify risks, and provide solutions to keep projects on track
Client Coordination & Field Support:
•Interface directly with EPCs, owners, and equipment vendors
•Support field teams with pile installation issues, validation testing, and remediation implementation
•Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support field changes during construction
Mentorship & Departmental Growth:
•Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; perform QA/QC reviews of calculations and drawings
•Contribute to design tools, templates, and internal training initiatives
•Assist with proposal development, resource planning, and project scoping
Other Areas of Focus:
While solar foundation design is the core of this role, you will also support and lead structural work in areas such as:
•Structural analysis for wind, seismic, and snow loads using IBC and ASCE 7
•Foundation design for conventional and custom structures (e.g., piers, spread footings, caissons)
•Structural components for buildings, retaining walls, prefabricated enclosures, and elevated platforms
•Structural inspections and evaluations of existing assets for load capacity and retrofit recommendations
•Coordination with manufacturers to produce foundation designs for prefabricated systems
•Construction administration, including review of change orders, shop drawings, and bid packages with clients, developers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
•Professional Engineer (PE) license required
•7–12+ years of structural engineering experience, with strong background in foundation design and renewable energy preferred
•Proficiency with AutoCAD
•Strong command of structural design software such as RISA, RAM, STAAD, or similar
•Deep understanding of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and foundation design best practices
•Proven ability to manage complex design scopes and mentor staff
•Willingness to travel occasionally for field visits or client meetings (5–10%)
