Reporting to AlphaGen’s Sr. Manager, Settlements the Sr. Settlements Analyst is a core member of the Settlements team, responsible for the end-to-end settlements process for wholesale power trading, dispatch, hedging, and related transactions within the company. This role ensures accurate calculation, reconciliation, and reporting of financial obligations arising from energy market transactions, bilateral deals, and asset operations. Serving as a critical link between trading, risk management, accounting, and counterparties, the Senior Settlements Analyst provides analytical oversight and ensures compliance with market rules, contractual obligations, and internal policies.
- Oversee daily, monthly, and quarterly settlements; reconcile ISO statements, charge codes, capacity, ancillaries, and transmission.
- Ensure settlement accuracy in AlphaGen’s ETRM system and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations; support month-end close and audits.
- Deliver daily portfolio P&L estimates (T-1) and weekly MTD/BOM reports with variance analysis against budget and updated forecasts.
- Lead process improvements, automation, and system enhancements to strengthen accuracy and efficiency.
- Serve as subject matter expert for settlements and accounting; train and mentor junior analysts.
- Partner with trading, finance, accounting, and operations to align settlements and reporting with business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- CPA strongly preferred; MBA or MAcc a plus.
- 2-4 years of Experience in ISO settlements, revenue accounting, or power markets.
- Experience with NYISO, PJM and ISO-NE would be considered highly preferable.
- Strong accounting and reporting background; public accounting experience desirable.
- In depth, hands-on experience with, and knowledge of, ETRM platforms.
- Advanced Excel; strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
