The Global Customer Training Instructor will be responsible on delivering a world-class technical training experience to our controls-upgrade customers. This involves the customization of training material to meet customer objectives and target audience. It also involves the customization of simulation software to site-specific application along with class workshops and labs. This role involves interacting with customers, training coordinators, project managers, project engineers and other functions. The instructor will directly work and report to the global customer training leader to deliver quality training for CSS customers. The senior instructor role will be responsible for material updates, equipment health checks, licensing of software, shipping equipment back after each class, communicating with customers and closing out projects for final revenue recognition. This individual should have strong controls background working as a field engineer or a project engineer with great passion for training and problem solving. Mastery of MS Office solutions (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint/Box) and SAP is a must. Experience with a wide range of application such as Nuclear, Aero, cybersecurity is a plus.
- Preparation for customer training classes (mainly in North America)
- Attend all customer pre-training meetings and ensure all technical scope and training objectives are agreed upon with the customer
- Obtain customer technical data to build training material, customize simulation software and workshops/labs for each customer engagement
- Ensure adequate training equipment, manuals and tools are available for each class
- Assist regional training coordinators with shipping paperwork for timely delivery at customer site
- Ownership of training equipment condition from calibration, integrity, software licenses and accessories
- Planning and booking travel itineraries, hotel booking and rental cars for each project using GE corporate card in a compliant manner
- Assist coordinators in Printing Manuals (using pcard or otherwise) and working with suppliers to expedite printing and resolve payment issues.
- Coordinate Customer Student Give-aways
- Assist Regional Training Managers (RTM’s) with facility coordination and ensuring training rooms are in a presentable condition for hosting customers and internal activities
- Welcome and assist customers attending training in the Longmont facility
- Delivery for customer training classes (mainly in North America)
- Compliance with customer and GE HSE policy when delivering training onsite or at the GE facility including LOTO, tripping hazards, electrical safety and others
- Timely reporting of risks related to incomplete software, delayed shipments, site hazardous conditions, student behavior or similar
- Delivering training class according to contract scope (working hours, number students per class, training room setup…etc) and reporting discrepancies to RTM and project manager.
- Collect and share student feedback for continued improvement
- Report lessons learned and potential opportunities to RTM and training coordinators
- Prepare Student Certificates at the end of each class
- Timely SAP time drop, submission of expenses and training completion documents
- Work with RTM to continuously improve the quality of training through
- Investing in new equipment
- Identification of potential risks or hazards with equipment, training rooms, customer sites and initiating Stop Work when necessary
- Periodic health check of equipment, software licenses, labeling and scheduling
- Ownership of training material updates, branding and inclusion of new workshops to keep pace with product developments
- Lead the innovation of new training delivery techniques such as the use of Cloud-base VMs, e-learning modules and AI applications
- Help identify potential instructor talent and provide technical coaching and mentorship

- Track training quality through NPS and student feedback
- Collect student and managers’ feedback for continuous improvement
- Address concerns related to delivery, equipment or venue in a timely and professional manner
- Documentation of lessons-learned and improvement plans
- Propose new work methods and solutions to improve efficiency and cost
- Work integrally with associated teams to create, manage, coordinate and deliver training (globally) to internal and external partners and customers. This will include select duties as content developer, trainer, and registrar.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited university
- At least 10 years of experience in Power Plant controls engineering, field services and instruction
- Hands-on experience working with GE control systems over a wide range of applications
- Proficiency with Excel, MS Office, MS Project Builder, Notes
- Willingness for 50% travel to customer sites within the North America (mainly the US)
- Experience with cybersecurity systems for industrial applications
- Experience with SAP and Smartsheet
- Experience working for a large engineering firm (> 1000 persons)
- Soft Skills classes or certifications
- Technical communication skills
- Awareness of HSE requirements within industrial environments
- Experience with e-learning platforms, AI solutions and other digital tools
- Strong communication skills with passion for training
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle conflicts and pressure
The base pay range for this position is $114,600.00 - 152,800.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
- The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
