The Senior Safety Specialist (Power Plant) will play a pivotal role in promoting and ensuring a culture of health and safety across our electrical generating plants and Corporate Office. This dynamic position involves providing day-to-day OSHA compliance support, conducting routine compliance assessments, delivering safety-related training, and supporting the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP). The ideal candidate will be an advocate for our Safety & Health program, serving as a knowledgeable resource for associates at all levels of the organization.
Job Duties:
•Leadership & Direction: Provide daily direction and leadership for Health and Safety programs in assigned areas.
•Mentorship & Training: Mentor and coach associates and plant management on safety compliance issues through active participation in Safe Teams, safety meetings, and training sessions.
•Policy Management: Prepare, maintain, standardize, and update safety policies and processes as required by the Safety and Health Manual.
•Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement programs to enhance safety performance, including self-assessments, audits, benchmarking, peer reviews, and more.
•Regulatory Compliance: Monitor new federal and state standards, identify potential impacts, and develop action plans for compliance.
•Training Delivery: Provide or coordinate safety training for assigned locations.
•Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on implementation.
•Risk Management: Coordinate and monitor insurance reviews, ensuring proper evaluation and communication of risk concerns and corrective actions.
•Industry Engagement: Actively participate in industry peer groups and training to stay updated on technological advances and regulatory compliance issues.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years as a safety professional in an electrical generation and transmission utility or a closely related industrial setting.
Equivalent Experience: With a two (2) year degree plus ten (10) years related experience, or twelve (12) years related experience.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Licenses/Certifications:
•Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
•Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
•Valid driver's license (meets insurance requirements)
