Scientific Drilling is looking for a Senior Quality Inspector to be based in Houston, TX. Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Performing dimensional and visual inspection of all incoming parts.
•Fill out and review appropriate inspection reports for all inspected parts and prepare inspection reports for new parts.
•Identification of non-conforming parts through incoming inspection, issue non-conformance reports and the respective quarantine action.
•Seeking dispositions and closure of disposition and updating log / system accordingly.
•Active participation in effective implementation of ISO9000 Quality Management System in Houston QC inspection efforts.
•Monitor and coordinate non-conforming products return to vendors.
•Data entry for accurate record keeping and analysis using SAP and Microsoft tools.
•Communicate effectively with team members and respective production or service labs.
•Maintaining an organized work area with proper housekeeping and safe working practices.
•Assist in instrument and gauge calibration efforts.
•Learn and operate Portable CMM (Romer Arm) for inspection of all complex parts.
•Ability to provide guidance and training to other inspection personnel. Lead the incoming inspection efforts and work to improve inspection efficiency and effectiveness.
•Loading and unloading of inspection bay with fork-lift as needed for inspection.
•Prepare and monitor monthly reports for incoming inspection and continuously improve.
•Monitor, organize and execute calibration/re-calibration of all instruments and gauges in this facility.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•ISO 9001 quality system awareness.
•Ability to read and understand complex drawings, geometrical features and critical dimensions.
•Learns quickly, adapts and uses logic to solve problems with effective solutions.
•Skill with measuring instruments such as Micrometers, Height gage and Thread gages (UN, API, NPT) and wide range of tools and instruments.
•Experience of optical comparator measurement and portable CMM.

•Able to understand and follow instructions and quickly adapts to priority changes.

•Working knowledge in Microsoft Office word, excel.

Education, Experience, Certification and Training:
•High School and/or associate's degree.
•Previous work experience in oil field in and 5 years of CNC machined parts inspection is required.
•Working knowledge and experience of using SAP or similar ERP systems.
•Knowledge of JSS Gauge maker measurement system preferred.
•Experience using portable CMM devices preferred (Romer or Farro Arms)
•Fork-Lift driving experience preferred.
•Completion of SDI required HSE and skill level training or equivalent.
Work Environment, Physical Job Requirements and PPE:
•Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 45 lbs., perceive depth and operate a motor vehicle.
•Conditions may include working inside and/or outside. May work around machines with moving parts and moving objects. Working near radiant and electrical energy. Working closely with others or working alone. Working extended or irregular hours and travelling by all possible modes of transportation.
•Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computers and related equipment, calculators, copiers, fax machines, telephone and vehicles. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
