Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Quality Control Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. Work Location: Aiken, SC Application Deadline: 05/01/25 (noon ET) Senior Quality Control Engineer- Duties:
•Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
•Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities.
•Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed.
•Obtain safety training, obey safety rules. And make safety an integral part of each task.
•Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
•Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages.
•Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity.
•Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections.
•Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned.
•Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations.
•Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities.
•Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover.
•Review subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, amend mobilization meetings and monitor their activities for activities proper implementation.
•Review suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.
•Review, assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials.
•Approve subcontracts invoices and application for payment.
Education/Yrs. Of Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5 - 7 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas OR an associate's degree and 7 - 9 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent OR a high school diploma and 10 - 14 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
•Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.
•Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
•A minimum of 7 yearsexperience in quality control for construction projects. This should include at least 2 years of experience on projects requiring NQA-1 pedigree
•Experienced and knowledgeable in Civil Concrete Placement and Structural Steel installation.
•Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to civil and structural steel, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
•Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans. Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non-Conformance reports as required.
•Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.
Other Job Requirements:
•Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).
