Designers work closely with the entire design team to help plan, design, and make owner's spaces special for on-time and in-budget new commercial spaces and buildings. Work with associated Bobbitt Group team members including; business development, civil engineering, interior design, estimating, construction management and field superintendents while promoting a positive and safe work environment. Work closely with clients and stakeholders to help their vision become reality in a fun, efficient, cost effective and timely completed project.
Roles & Responsibilities:
•Lead architectural design on projects, working with Architects / Senior Designers and project team(s) for all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production
•Work closely with Design Director to develop architectural solutions from conceptual level through construction documentation.
•Preparing designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, working drawings, develops details and edits specifications.
•Attend and document project meetings with external clients / internal team
•Develop conceptual, schematic and design development framework for building systems, cores, site plan, etc , in a team-based studio setting.
•Adapts and modifies design features and operational methods under supervision of senior-level architect or designer to meet project specifications.
•Manages project teams and leads client meetings.
•Work conforms to applicable codes and standards and company policies and procedures.
•Consult with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and staff regarding requirements for design and/or construction of various projects
•Network and promote Bobbitt Design and Construction teams
•Develop constructible / efficient / code compliant designs utilizing programing, schematic, and design development stages for internal pricing by estimators and client review
•Develop clear and accurate construction documents for submittal with support and review by a licensed architect.
•Manages time and workload to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
•Manages tasks required by junior staff to hit project milestones and deadlines.
•Responsible for project deliverable accuracy and execution.
•Review and collaborate on construction documents with the internal design and construction teams and external subcontractors for best practices and methods
•Keep project files and document job evolution as required by the scope of the project.
•Develop and maintain a working knowledge of construction practices.
•Continually collaborate with the numerous Bobbitt Group team experts
•Observe project progress via our online Project Management system as well as on-site meetings to ensure design specifications, safety, and standards are met
Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
Professional degree in Architecture, plus at least ten years of related experience. Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support throughout the entire project. Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client’s needs. Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects. Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Provides technical guidance to less experienced architectural staff.
Competent in all conventional aspects of architecture. Performs work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Independently solves problems encountered. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex issues and supervisory approval on proposed project plans.
Responsible for project success. Leads a team of designers and technicians. Liaises with project management, other architects/designers, and consultants. Applies sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields. Acts independently regarding architectural methods and complexities. Requires use of advanced techniques and modification/extension of theories, precepts, and practices of individual’s field. Supervision and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
•Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture (NAAB Accredited Program required)
•Completion or approaching completion of AXP hours.
Work Format:
This position requires team collaboration and presence at in-person meetings and is best suited to a traditional work schedule. Occasional remote work is acceptable.
Travel Requirements:
•Occasional travel (10-15%) to meetings and events, typically within a 150-mile radius of the office.
•Occasional travel to various job site locations as needed for construction administration or milestone events.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction sites in all types of weather
•Must have a valid driver's license
•Ability to sit in extended meetings
•Ability to lift at least 30 lbs
