Senior Production Engineer

Position Summary

Identifies the production capabilities and economic potential of oil and gas wells to maximize profitability and rate of return by optimizing production. Analyzes a well’s production to appropriately design and implement artificial lift systems. Ensures that producing properties operate at a maximum economic rate and comply with governmental and contractual requirements, including accurate production reporting. Evaluates downhole and surface equipment failures and specifies the best means of repair or replacement. Evaluates and implements continuous production cost structure improvements. The position is based in Downtown Houston, TX and requires frequent travel to field locations. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

- Builds technical depth in a focus area and contributes to cross-functional project planning and execution

- Leads technical evaluations and proposes effective solutions in cross-functional settings

- Plans and delivers full workstreams and coordinates multiple projects and disciplines

- Facilitates coordination across teams and communicates project risks and solutions

- Champions new tools or workflows to improve project efficiency or outcomes

- Leads EH&S efforts within team and ensures compliance with regulations

- Leads artificial lift design and selection across multiple assets

- Supports budget planning, forecasting, and economics related to field uplift

- Guides data QC and allocation workflows; ensures field surveillance is accurate

- Leads surveillance standards for new wells and ensures protocol consistency

- Provides expertise for sensitive wells or technically complex production designs

- Mentors junior engineers on production workflows and data systems

- Leverages statistical methods to effectively quantify and communicate economic risk

- Compare actual vs. budgeted expenses; identify cost overruns. Perform trend analysis. Identify inefficiencies – Providing recommendations to improve cost structure. Heavily influence and support initiatives to reduce LOE

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering

- 5 years of experience in petroleum engineering

- Independently applies engineering principles; conducts analysis and makes recommendations

- Ability to manage time effectively; communicates technical findings clearly

- Willing to travel

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company

- Ability to meet deadlines

- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Preferred Qualifications

- 8 years of petroleum engineering experience

- Experience in Williston Basin

- Proven ability to mentor other engineers

- Field production operations experience

- Working knowledge of government regulations and permitting requirements
