UtilityInnovation Group is seeking a highly skilled
Senior Power System Studies Engineer
to join our Power Systems Analysis team. In this critical role, you’ll lead electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations and modeling to support microgrids, energy storage, data center power systems, and grid interconnections for large loads and inverter-based resources (IBRs).
This remote position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge power solutions, collaborate across US and EU engineering teams, and help shape the future of grid resiliency and energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead EMT simulations for microgrids, energy storage, and IBRs using PSCAD or PowerFactory
•Model and optimize electric machines, microgrids, data center power systems, and power electronics-based systems
•Perform controls tuning and pre-commissioning studies to support seamless integration
•Analyze power quality, reliability, and resilience for critical environments
•Conduct grid interconnection and compliance studies for large loads and inverter-based systems
•Support the development of UIG’s Energy Storage for Resiliency (ESR), Microgrid Control Systems, and GridSure analytics platform
•Create detailed study reports and support technical marketing efforts
•Collaborate across teams and communicate findings effectively with engineers, clients, and partners
Qualifications
•Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field
•Expertise in EMT studies and simulation tools like PSCAD or PowerFactory
•Experience with IBRs, electric machines, and power electronics
•Familiarity with interconnection standards and grid code compliance (preferred)
•Strong analytical, communication, and task management skills
Location & Eligibility
•Remote within the United States or the European Union
•Occasional travel to R&D facilities and project sites
