TotalEnergies Gas and Power North America (TGPNA) is TotalEnergies’ US trading affiliate, engaged in marketing and trading, transportation, storage, export, and other commercial acitvities to support the Company’s US energy portfolio. The portfolio primarily includes Natural gas and Natural Gas Liquids, a fast-growing Power segment, and Environmental Products, which are all crucial to TotalEnergies’ global integrated strategy.


Electricity is the energy of the 21st century. To answer responsibly, TotalEnergies is investing massively in solar and wind generation in order to become one of the global top five producers of renewable energy by 2030. The Company is developing a portfolio of assets and operations across the electricity value chain to ensure that electricity accounts for 40% of its sales mix by 2050.


US electricity markets are among the key priorities of the Company and of its Gas, Renewable and Power (GRP) branch, correlating with its very well developed legacy businesses around gas and liquids. Their heterogeneity and complexities require an intimate knowledge of the US Power markets but also an excellent understanding of risk, position management and compliance with delegations of authorities.


GRP is the critical market access point for the Company, providing a number of commercial solutions and support, including structuring, risk management, general and specific market expertise, and direct access to a broad customer network. The US Trading Origination Team, which operates within the Trading Energy Management arm of GRP and within the fast-evolving and competitive US energy markets, is deeply involved in all of these activities, helping achieve TotalEnergies’s strategy to be a multi-energy company prioritizing energies of the future.


PURPOSES

Meet or exceed annual total US origination P&L targets, specifically focused on Power Origination targets
Propose and execute profitable (or cost savings) power transactions and solutions to optimize TGPNA’s asset portfolio and create tangible value (measurable PnL)
Structure and execute third party origination and marketing deals within the framework of TGPNA’s limit and trading policy
Coordinate and offer relevant support to TGPNA traders and other TGPNA departments
Support TotalEnergies affiliates to provide products and services to meet their objectives
Build the expertise of the team through internal training and external recruiting efforts
Comply with the Code of Conduct Compliance manual and all policies and procedures of the Company and the Group


Activités

Your mission as a Senior Power Originator include:


Develop a deep understanding of TGPNA and affiliate businesses, including:

Asset portfolios, contractual arrangements, and product flows
Key counterparties, markets, and market dynamics
Positions, risk management, and optimization strategies
Company strategies for business development, growth, and new energies


Develop and maintain relationships with key participants in relevant markets, including :

Downstream end-users power (Utilities, Coops, Muni’s,REP’s, industrial and commercial)
Power and Renewables (developers, IPPs, utilities and load serving entities)


Work closely with TGPNA trade desks to :

Identify risks and opportunities in the portfolio
Optimize the portfolio to add value and/or decrease costs
Structure and execute short and long term transactions that mitigate risk, add flexibility, and create value


Evaluate & assist in originating new power, environmental product, or related energy commodity transactions


Work closely with affiliate businesses and third parties to:

Perform services under current and/or future services agreements
Help monitor monthly scheduling, operations, and settlement activity
Assist budgeting and planning activities including monthly estimates, annual budgets, and LTP
Evaluate and pursue new opportunities


DIMENSIONS

The Senior Power Originator is responsible for managing, developing, and executing on the Gas, Renewables, and Power strategy in the US, with a focus power products and services that are core to the Company’s ambitions. The role will require a focus on profit-driven, front office initiatives that align with the risk objectives of the Trading organization. These include trading origination (off-exchange, customer-oriented, short and long-term, physical and financial deal origination and optimization), structured products, B2B supply and environmental products. The Trading Originator will develop strong multi-product expertise, facilitating transactions within a given Delegation of Authority and providing support for the trading desk, affiliates, and third party counterparts. Other responsibilities include evaluating market dynamics, generating and structuring origination opportunities, negotiating purchase/sale contracts, coordinating and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and representing the organization to the market in a manner consistent with the Company’s core principles.



Profil du candidat

You are someone who possesses the following experience and credentials:

Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, business administration, or equivalent
Minimum of 7 years’ experience, with at least 5 years previous experience working in an origination or business development role or a commercial function in an energy commodity environment
Experience in origination, trading, marketing, operations, and risk management of wholesale electricity
Knowledge of the US electricity market with a focus on ERCOT, PJM, and/or CAISO
Strong Sales Skills and demonstrated previous experience to develop and grow relationships with Power market counterparties
Ability to work under pressure
Creative and highly proactive, with capacity to work and deliver results independently
High level of analytical and organizational skills;
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI
Excellent oral and writing communication and presentation skills
Proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus.
