ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Planner & Scheduler is essential to the overall success of the organization through planning, organizing, analyzing and forecasting works within the project execution timeline. This position is responsible for integrating the project engineering, procurement and construction schedule inputs, guiding schedule management to industry best practices and company governance processes, and performing logic, sequence and risk analyses so as to help ensure successful completion of the Hermosa project. This role is based in Tucson, Arizona.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assist the Project Controls Manager and Principal Planner Scheduler in developing schedule logic, integrating Contractor schedules, consolidating resources, and resolving resource and scheduling conflicts.
•Assist the Project Controls Manager and Principal Planner Scheduler in developing engineering, procurement and construction schedules with input from internal stakeholders, design consultants, vendors, and contractors.
•Validate consultant, engineer and vendor schedule quality utilizing Acumen Risk.
•Complete schedule contingency and cost contingency analyses as directed.
•Check and confirm the accuracy of planning work performed by consultants and subconsultants, including verifying the methods used by engineering and planning staff, to ensure adherence to South32 requirements and industry best practices.
•Review timelines for construction activities, including compilation and analysis of contractor execution schedules and verification against approved baselines.
•Review timelines for engineering and procurement.
•Develop and publish project schedule-related documentation as required.
•Coordinate consultant and vendor communication to ensure the integrity of Planning and Scheduling activities.
•Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering consultants, vendors, and Hermosa project team members.
•Ensure that the consultant and construction contractor progress and programming deliverables conform to S32 requirements and earned value measurement standards.
•Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for improved outcomes.
•Communicate and collaborate with other managers, vendors, and contractors.
•Prepare and deliver various planning-related presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
•Ensure that the relevant corporate risk management processes are implemented and monitored during the execution of Engineering and Construction work, ensure the appropriate risk register(s) and accompanying mitigations are updated;
•Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Controls Manager.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 5 years of construction project management experience
•Proficiency in Primavera P6 is a must.
•Strong understanding of mining operations, processes, and safety standards.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Education:
•Bachelor’s or equivalent degree/experience combination in construction and/or engineering.
