Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Pipe Stress Engineer opportunity in Ogden, UT.
Per diem is available for those who qualify.
Perform pipe stress analysis using AutoPipe. Coordinate with Pipe Support Engineers and Layout personnel as required.
- Essential duties include performing pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASMEB31.3 Code.
- The stress work includes the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
- Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
- Working knowledge of dynamic analysis and ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Codes.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications .
- Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements .
- Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions .
- Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Coordinates plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Level I: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience without a degree.
- Level II: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or12-14 years of relevant work experience without a degree.
- EIT certification or PE registration preferred.
- Previous Bechtel and/or DOD/DOE project experience preferred.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment, education, and travel.
- Working knowledge of dynamic analysis and ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Codes.
- Prior experience using pipe stress analysis program Bentley AutoPipe.
