Job Description
Sedgman is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Vancouver to plan and co-ordinate complex engineering design assignments entailing technical specifications and detailed planning.
What does the role involve?
•Define and recommend design methods, specifications and performance of functional requirements for new projects.
•Undertake or supervise the preparation of feasibility studies, surveys and reports, design layouts, circuit block or system diagrams, specifications, bill of quantities, materials lists and cost estimates.
•Supply drafting staff with information necessary to produce detailed drawings.
•Carry out site inspections and liaise with suppliers, clients, consultants or commissioning engineers concerning the design, installation, construction and commissioning of assigned work.
•Ensure project time and cost KPI’s are met - monitor effectiveness of designs, scheduling of work, resource requirements and review compliance with project execution plan (schedule) and client expectations.
•Contribute to periodic reporting e.g. Project progress; resource requirements, Project budget versus cost, priorities, allocation of work, team needs.
•Ensure checking and review processes are completed. Review designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes, Canadian / International Standards and Sedgman Standards.
•Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design.
•Estimating, budgeting and basic document control
•You will be flexible to travel to site as required
What We Are Looking For
•Minimum 7 years’ experience in design/consultancy/operational environment in engineering capacity
•Coal, Lithium, and/or Metals industry experience
•Experience in heavy industry environment
•Experience in project management
•Skills in MS Office suite, MS Access, MS Project, Helix software.
•Experience in designing at minimum two of the three following: Platework, Piping, or Chutes for industrial facilities.
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
Salary Range: 110,000.00 - 170,000.00
