Job Description
Summary
The Senior Materials Manager is responsible for leading and aligning the Asset Management and Inventory Management functions within the Supply Chain organization. The Senior Materials Manager works cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, and Category Management teams to ensure that equipment and materials are tracked, utilized, and replenished efficiently and in alignment with business needs. This role will also drive strategic initiatives aimed at improving utilization, reducing waste, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the asset and materials value chain.
Responsibilities•Manage the Asset Management team responsible for equipment lifecycle tracking, condition assessment, redeployment, and disposal.
•Lead the Inventory Management team in maintaining accurate inventory records, cycle counts, and material availability across all districts and warehouses.
•Develop and enforce standardized processes for asset tracking, inventory control, and materials movement.
•Collaborate with Field Operations and Maintenance to forecast material demand and ensure alignment with job schedules and maintenance plans.
•Implement and maintain systems for real-time inventory visibility and asset traceability.
•Establish KPIs to track asset utilization, inventory accuracy, turnover rate, and stockout frequency.
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize working capital, reduce material waste, and streamline supply chain responsiveness.
•Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics on inbound material planning, transfers, and disposition of surplus or obsolete stock.
•Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to materials and assets.
•Mentor and develop team members to build organizational capability and operational discipline.
•Partner with Finance and Asset Accounting to align asset classifications and ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation.
•Act as supervisor direct report for assigned personnel (i.e., performance management, corrective action, training, defining daily priorities, creating work schedules, etc.)
•Oversee the hiring of assigned personnel (i.e., collaborate with Human Resources recruiters, perform interviews, select qualified talent, etc.)
•Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
•Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience), required.
•Minimum 8 years of experience in materials, inventory, or asset management, required.
•Minimum 3 years in a managerial or leadership role, required.
•Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, warehouse operations, and inventory control best practices.
•Proficiency with ERP systems, inventory software, and asset tracking platforms.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
•Ability to analyze data, develop KPIs, and implement process improvements across multi-site operations.
