Summary

Responsible for the enterprise-wide implementation of the day-ahead energy market. Directs implementation activities required for entrance into a day-ahead market including ensuring processes, tools, training, and technologies are adequate for a successful market entry. This position is responsible for meeting project milestones, controlling the project budget, and meeting overall project schedule. The SRP departments implementing day-ahead markets include Transmission and Generation Operations, Supply and Trading, Energy Risk Management, Operational Technology Applications, Metering Services, Information Technology Services, Generation Engineering, Organizational Change Management, Legal Services, and Power Accounting Services.


What You'll Do

Develop overall day-ahead market entry project scope, timelines, and requirements.
Implement the activities focused on joining a day-ahead energy market covering technology (software and internal systems), assets/infrastructure (generation and transmission), and participation approach (bid strategies and financial reporting).
Directs the staff in the Day-Ahead Implementation team and other impacted departments.
Interfaces with day-ahead market operator to ensure issues are understood and addressed in a timely manner and expected progress is on track.
Responsible for implementing change management processes.
Provides project leadership through direction, coordination, and collaboration with Senior Leadership, department managers, and SMEs to successfully implement the plan.
Develops and oversees distribution of communications required for the implementation project.
Oversees the development and implementation of all departmental training plans.
Determines the need for and directs external consultant support.
Provides routine updates to executive management.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Directs the customization, testing, training and implementation of software solutions.


What It Takes To Succeed

This position requires exceptional project management, collaboration, and communication skills.
Understands and clearly communicates overall requirements for reliable and economic operation of the electric system, including business processes, operations, market functions, generation, and information technology.
Decisions made by this position will impact SRP day ahead and real time operations processes, workflows, software systems, and training.
Strong ability to manage changing and multiple priorities.
Build effective relationships with peers and other support groups to ensure project objectives are met in a timely manner.
Position requires occasional travel to industry functions/meetings, as well as contact with outside agencies.


Experience

A minimum of eight years of related experience is required (if no degree, 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling 12 years).


Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.


Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
