Bison Oil & Gas IV operates in the DJ Basin of Colorado and Wyoming. The Sr. Landman role is critical to the success of our company, directly supporting the management and development of our oil and gas assets. This position drives our development program by overseeing leasing activities, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. What it takes to be successful in this role
The ideal candidate will have 5–10+ years of in-house experience as a landman with an operator, preferably with DJ Basin experience. Strong leadership abilities, deep knowledge of oil and gas contracts, and hands-on in-house land experience are essential. Success in this role requires the ability to negotiate leases, manage title attorneys and land brokers, and oversee title review and curative processes. Strong communication, organizational skills, and a self-starter mentality are also key.
• Draft and distribute well proposals, land-related contracts, and state/federal forms for regulatory compliance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
• Prepare and submit applications and land testimony for commission hearings, representing the company’s interests effectively and professionally.
• Lead and manage leasing programs to align with company objectives and operational efficiency.
• Negotiate oil and gas leases and related documents, securing favorable terms for the company.
• Review and resolve complex title issues related to leasing and ongoing development programs.
• Respond to inquiries from owners and stakeholders, fostering positive relationships and addressing concerns with professionalism.
• Oversee mineral transactions, ensuring efficient processes that maximize company value.
• 5–10 years of in-house experience as a landman with an operator, with a proven track record of success.
• Experience with development program tasks, including spacing, pooling, and communitization.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas leases, JOAs, farmouts, PSAs, and related contracts.
• Direct leasing and lease negotiation experience with demonstrated successful outcomes.
• Experience managing land brokers on leasing projects.
• 5–10+ years of in-house experience as a landman with an operator.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $109,200 - $176,300 annually in this location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

This position is located in Denver, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location. No relocation or travel assistance will be provided by the Company for this position.
This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside in an office space wherein employee may be provided a public workstation (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.
In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
This is a full-time position. We operate on a 9/80 work schedule. Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on working Fridays. Employee must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.
Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
