We’re looking for a passionate and skilled professional to join our team and play a key role in developing and enhancing systems for PGE’s wildfire mitigation program. In this position, you’ll have the unique opportunity to take charge of technical system design, development, and testing, all while shaping the future of this critical program. You’ll be the primary developer on the team, working on impactful projects that directly contribute to protecting communities and supporting our wildfire mitigation efforts.
You’ll be responsible for building systems to improve communication between teams during high-risk weather events, integrating complex data from various sources, and helping create decision support tools that enable consistent and informed actions. As you do this, you’ll also help guide the evolution of the program by setting standards, integrating new technologies, and ensuring our solutions are scalable for future growth.
This role offers a chance to have a real impact by developing systems from the ground up, while also playing a key part in the ongoing maturation of the program. Specialist Professional Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects.
Programming/Software Development (PROG) Designs, codes, tests, corrects and documents complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result. Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work. As this team expands, its expected that this individual will set local or team-based standards for programming tools and techniques, including system architecture, security guidelines and the selection of appropriate development methods. Takes technical responsibility for all stages and/or iterations in a software development project, providing method-specific technical advice and guidance to project stakeholders. Assigns work packages, monitors performance and manages change control dynamically to optimize productivity. Provides advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required.
Application Support (ASUP) Maintains application support processes and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports. Manages application enhancements to improve business performance. Advises and executes on application security, licensing, upgrades, backups and disaster-recovery needs. Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures.
Incident Management (USUP) Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution. Escalates unresolved incidents. Facilitates recovery following resolution of incidents. Documents and closes resolved incidents according to agreed procedures. Ensures that resolved incidents are properly documented and closed. Analyzes causes of incidents and informs service owners in order to minimize probability of recurrence and contribute to service improvement. Analyzes metrics and reports on performance of incident-management process.
Problem Management (PBMG) Ensures that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services. Ensures that such problems are fully documented within the relevant reporting system(s). Enables development of problem solutions. Coordinates the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures. Analyzes patterns and trends.
Systems Design (DESN) Specifies and designs large or complex systems. Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensures they are applied effectively. As additional engineers join the team, review systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology. Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and assesses and manages associated risks. Ensures that the system design balances functional, service quality, security and systems management requirements.
Systems Integration (SINT) Designs and builds integration components and interfaces. Leads practical integration work under the technical direction of the system/service designer. May contribute to the overall design of the service. May define the technical criteria for product/component selection. Contributes to decisions about tools, methods and approaches.
Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, management or other related field or equivalent experience.
Experience Typically eight or more years in related field.
Cognitive Level: Substantial: Consistent use of logic or scientific thinking to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions (for example, engineer, HR director, plant manager, etc.).
Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
