We are currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst in our Calgary Office. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role provides the opportunity to be involved in a full range of responsibilities. We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven professional to join our team. This position involves preparing financial reports in accordance with IFRS requirements. It offers an exciting opportunity to enhance processes, analyze financial results, and take on various ad hoc projects. You will collaborate closely with senior finance professionals and cross-functional teams to aid decision-making and strengthen the overall financial health of the organization.
· Support the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements under IFRS and other regulatory filings.
· Support month-end processes, including preparation of journal entries and schedules such as ARO, DD&A, G&A allocation and monthly operating expense accruals.
· Perform variance analysis of accounting results and investigate differences.
· Assist with the preparation of internal results for senior management.
· Conduct technical accounting analysis as required, including researching accounting standards and regulatory updates, conducting peer analysis, and preparing memos.
· Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.
· Identify and implement process improvements for financial reporting, accounting processes, and controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
· Prepare, co-ordinate and review completion of account reconciliations.
· Prepare, co-ordinate and review completion of Statistics Canada surveys, monthly GST submissions.
· Assist, as required, with the preparation of the budget, forecast, financial planning and analysis.
· Maintain documentation, coordinate testing and remediation of internal controls for certification purposes.
· Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, or equivalent)
· 5+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry
· Big-6 audit firm experience considered an asset
· Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Experience with Qbyte would be an asset
· Advanced knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting experience
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
