The Senior Estimator position requires 8+ years of Estimating experience with a self-performing civil construction firm with expertise in earthwork, underground utilities, paving, and/or structures projects. The ideal candidate will be familiar with alternative delivery methods.
The position will also take part in calculating costs of a broad range of projects. The goal is to provide accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning, managing quantity takeoffs, producing proposals, and reviewing bid instructions, plans, specifications, and related bid documents. The position will manage the estimating staff, subcontractors, vendors, and project owners.
Must have experience in one or more of the following areas: bridges or concrete structures, excavation, underground utilities, site concrete, or asphalt paving.

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
•8+ years of experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis in the public works, heavy highway, bridges or concrete structures, underground utilities, or commercial or residential site work arena
•Experience with state DOT and municipalities is preferred
•Experience with any of the following: HCSS HeavyBid, AASHTOWare, AGTEK, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, and/or Primavera P6
•Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
•Negotiated project experience ideal, including technical writing skills, project proposal development in CMAR, CM/GC and Design Build projects to $500M
Responsibilities
•Oversee the estimating and operations processes for construction projects, ensuring accurate cost control and pricing strategies.
•Collaborate with project managers to develop comprehensive proposals and contracts.
•Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project for project planning and management.
•Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
•Ensure compliance with construction management standards and safety regulations on-site.
•Provide technical writing support for project documentation and reports.
Essential Duties:
•Analyzes and properly vets all bid opportunities to ensure viability. Reviews bid calendar and schedules bid reviews
•Attends pre-bid meetings and job walks, ensuring sufficient understanding of the job scope
•Correctly reads and interprets drawings, specifications, and addendums.
•Reviews historical production rates, material pricing, and equipment utilization
•Applies all collected information to job bid to ensure accuracy
•Intentionally collects information through available channels and applies it to the bidding process to deliver an accurate, well organized, detailed, and timely bid
•Performs project takeoffs using BlueBeam
•Recommends profitability for estimated projects
•Presents bids to customers
•Communicates effectively with key stakeholders (including Project Managers, Field Operations, and Customers) regarding the bid. Supports project handoff to assigned Project Manager
•operations, and customers
•Provides excellent client service and encourages growth and repeat business by establishing and maintaining successful business relationships
•Performs other duties as assigned
