Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Civil Preconstruction Team based out of our Dallas Office in Richardson, TX. This role will assist the Preconstruction Team with all aspects of estimating, including quantity take-off, pricing and bidding of the civil scope on various civil and commercial construction projects. The Senior Estimator will manage the preparation of civil estimates for these projects which may include earthwork, sitework, wet utilities, and/or yard pipe.
Key Responsibilities
•Assist in the pricing and bidding of CMAR, Design Build, and Hard Bid construction projects, reviewing milestone documents to price alternative opportunities.
•Participate in the internal estimate review process and assist with final assembly of estimate presentation for owner.
•Participate in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting by evaluating bids and collecting/organizing information for future use.
•Prepare contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts, and direct information/documents to subcontractors.
•Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors and clients, and represent McCarthy at industry events.
•Perform quantity take-offs and aid in change order pricing.
•Review of the project documents for value analysis suggestions.
•Preparation and pricing of value analysis suggestions.
•Communicate with engineers and owners to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 3-6 years of experience required.
•Self-perform experience (field or estimating) is strongly desired.
•General technical knowledge of Heavy Civil projects.
•Underground utilities estimating experience is a plus.
•General knowledge of construction principles and processes, as well as negotiated/hard bids and GMP processes.
•Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
•General knowledge of estimating software including HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, and/or On-Screen Takeoff is preferable, but not required.
•Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
•Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail.
•Strong organizational and communication skills.
•Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values while maintaining a "value added" approach to estimating.
