Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist / Coordinator to support and advance our safety and environmental programs at CleanJoule. This role will be hands-on in promoting a safe workplace, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing best practices in health, safety, and environmental management. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in industrial EHS programs, strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations, and the ability to engage employees in building a strong safety culture at the first-of-its-kind biorefinery of tomorrow.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of health, safety, and environmental programs.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant OSHA, EPA, and local/state/federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reporting related to EHS activities and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and coaching to employees and contractors on safe work practices, emergency response, and environmental compliance.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; assist in root cause analysis and follow-up on corrective/preventive actions.
- Assist with the management of chemical safety, hazardous materials, and waste disposal programs
- Support emergency preparedness efforts, including drills and response coordination.
- Promote employee participation in safety committees, toolbox talks, and environmental initiatives.
- Collaborate with teams to embed EHS into daily activities.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s of Science in relevant field (Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering) or additional relevant experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in EHS roles within chemical, petrochemical, oil/gas, or related industrial environments
- Experience with hazardous chemicals, flammable gases, or Class I spaces preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability in incident investigation, risk assessment, and corrective action follow-up.
- Effective communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Preference will be given to local candidates.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting and moving of items up to fifty (50) pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required. Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and practices.
