M. A. Mortenson Company seeks a full-time Senior Electrical Manager based in Minneapolis, MN. The Senior Electrical Manager provides technical leadership, knowledge, and expertise throughout the entire process of the construction project, starting from front-end theory and design to estimation, procurement, construction, and commissioning of utility-scale solar projects. This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of related experience working on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of utility-scale solar projects, high voltage substations, and high voltage transmission lines.
Alternatively, this position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus seven (7) years progressive, post-baccalaureate experience working on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of utility-scale solar projects, high voltage substations, and high voltage transmission lines.
Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) performing utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) power plant design, including Cymcap modeling on collection system cables, PVsyst modeling on solar energy systems’ performance, and calculating plant real and reactive power losses and low-voltage electrical distribution system design per National Electrical Code (NEC); (2) developing equipment specifications for suppliers’ purchase agreements, negotiating with electrical sub-contractors to resolve technical and commercial issues during contract negotiations, and managing trader partners throughout the entire construction phase; (3) working on engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects for high voltage substations, switchyards, and high voltage transmission lines, including project planning, construction, and turnover; (4) working on EPC project completion from preliminary design, planning, construction, and commissioning for utility-scale solar power plants, ensuring all electrical construction tasks are in compliance with NEC, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and EPC contractual requirements; (5) leading electrical testing and commissioning scopes on utility-scale solar projects, including testing and troubleshooting low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage electrical equipment; plant interconnection on the power grid; SCADA controls; and power plant energization; and (6) performing quality control/assurance on foundation, overhead conductor installs, setting steels, and electrical scopes throughout the construction phase of assigned project.
Will accept experience gained before, during, or after Master’s program. All experience may have been gained concurrently.

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
