Job Summary/Responsibilities: The SeniorDiesel Mechanic will independently perform basic/complex diagnostics; service repairs and maintenance work on company owned equipment. The Senior Diesel Mechanic will act as a role model, mentor, offer guidance, and advanced knowledge to more junior Mechanics.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Repair and inspect company equipment in a timely manner
•Must have advanced knowledge about electrical issues
•Able to replace/overhaul transmissions and engines
•Ability to do tune-up, brake jobs and basic wiring
•Perform diagnostics and maintenance on vehicles
•Participates in all job-related training and development
•Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
•Senior Diesel Mechanic will maintain advanced current product knowledge of company owned equipment
•Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
•Common sense and advanced problem-solving skills
•Ability to work individually and be self-motivated
•Working successfully with a team
•Be a role model to junior mechanics
•Offer guidance to junior mechanics
•Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
•Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries
•Be mindful and watch for overhead dangers while operating a CMV
•Assist with Preventive Maintenance program as required
•Regular and predictable attendance
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
•Class B CDL with Endorsements as Required (upon hire preferred)
•3-5 years experience as a Diesel Mechanic
Essential Job Requirements:
•This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required
•Must be able to pass a federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical
•Follow all DOT rules and regulations
•Should have advanced welding skills and be able to use a cutting torch
•Ability to do engine, transmission, drive train, brake, electrical, preventive maintenance work
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
•Requires full range of body motion on a daily basis. Extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level, mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles or working in confined spaces.
•The employee will be working specified shifts and moving around at all times, which will require the ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
•Facilities can be extremely hot or cold at times, so the employee must have the ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes
