The
Senior Data Platform Engineerwill report to the Director of Commercial Analytics and will lead the design, development, and management of our data analytics infrastructure and data engineering efforts. This role combines deep technical expertise in PySpark, Delta Lake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric, with robust experience in Data Architecture, DevOps, Data Quality, Data Security, and cross-functional team leadership.
Responsibilities May Include
+ Design, build, and optimize real-time and batch data lakehouse architectures leveraging Databricks, Delta Lake, Parquet/DeltaParquet, and OneLake. + Develop scalable and efficient data pipelines using PySpark, Delta Live Tables (DLT), and streaming platforms (Kafka, Event Hubs). + Implement best-in-class partitioning, compaction, query optimization, Z-Ordering, and lifecycle management for performance and cost efficiency.
+ Champion Microsoft Fabric adoption across analytics workloads, integrating DLT with OneLake and Fabric Pipelines. + Automate infrastructure deployment and pipeline promotion using Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and IaC. + Lead Agile delivery of data platform features, working closely with product owners, data analysts, and scientists to meet evolving business needs.
+ Implement data quality frameworks, including data validation, profiling, and lineage tracking within DLT and Fabric. + Define and enforce enterprise data security policies, including RBAC, encryption, and compliance with applicable data protection standards. + Collaborate with governance teams to manage metadata, schema evolution, and cataloging using Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview, or similar.
+ Serve as a technical lead and mentor across platform, analytics, and engineering teams—driving standards, reusable patterns, and upskilling efforts. + Translate business requirements into scalable engineering solutions through stakeholder engagement, impact analysis, and architectural decision-making. + Support data visualization and self-service analytics by building curated gold-layer datasets and collaborating with BI teams using Power BI, Tableau, or Databricks SQL.
+ Python and Apache Spark (structured streaming, performance tuning) + Databricks (runtime tuning, workflows, Unity Catalog) + Delta Lake, Parquet, and Delta Live Tables (DLT) + Real-time data ingestion (e.g., Kafka, Event Hubs) + Data lakehouse architectures at scale
+ Designing and optimizing large-scale distributed data systems + CI/CD automation using Azure DevOps, including pipelines and repo management + Data governance, schema management, and security enforcement
