The Senior Associate, Reliability Engineering , Operations Engineering will focus on wind turbine blade engineering as part of the wind turbine generator engineering team within the Operations Engineering department of RWECE. The blade engineers are component specialists within the Onshore Wind Engineering team and provide support and expertise on rotor blades for wind farm Development, Construction, and Operations. This role will support the breadth of existing assets in the United States from the end of construction at a project site to repowering and decommissioning with effort on Operational success and needed repair at existing projects. The job also covers the support of the other engineers globally. As RWECE is growing in terms of managed assets as the existing fleet ages, the position supports the growing asset base and increasing maintenance needs, which often come with age.


Role Responsibilities:

Perform blade damage dispositions
Improve a system to classify damage based on damage criticality, including low-risk periods for each failure mode
Analyze the existing blade failure modes in the RWECE fleet
Evaluate the criticality of each failure mode in terms of damage propagation and risk of catastrophic failure
Support of repair crews while performing complex repairs
Perform blade repair reports quality review
Evaluation of the quality of blade repairs done by contractors
Develop new and amend existing work instructions for blade inspections and repairs to be used on site
Support of root cause analysis and corrective action for blade damages and failures using DMAIC and FMEA
Monitor and report blade failure rates using reliability methodology
Adhere to the Company’s values and behaviors as aspired to by RWECE
Additionally, Perform all other duties assigned as may be required from time to time
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
Advanced degree preferred


Job Requirements and Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience preferred
Working knowledge of equipment utilized in the renewable energy sector, including utility-scale wind turbines
Knowledge of the different blade types, integral, spar/shell, and web blades
Knowledge of lightning conduction systems
Knowledge of bolted connections
Knowledge of data analytics, reductio,n and reporting
Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
A continuous improvement mindset
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts


Work Environment:

This position is office-based, with some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
