Senior Accountant
Public Mining Company - Vancouver, BC
Position: Permanent, Full-time, Hybrid
A publicly listed mining company located in downtown Vancouver seeks a motivated senior accountant. The successful candidate must have a CPA designation with at least four years experience as an intermediate and or senior accountant, be a quick learner, self-starter with good problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
•Prepare and post journal entries, perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain general ledgers of multiple companies;
•Prepare and maintain consolidated working papers for multi-companies and perform expense variance analysis;
•Assist in quarterly consolidation process and prepare note disclosure schedules for quarterly consolidate financial statements;
•Assist in internal control documentation and testing process;
•Assist in annual audit and quarterly review;
•Assist in annual budget process and prepare monthly budget variance reports;
•Process payroll and administrate employee benefits for multiple companies;
•Assist in annual income tax filings and other regulatory filings; and
•Ad hoc projects as required.
Qualifications:
•At least 4 years of experience in Intermediate or Senior Accountant role(s)
•Experience working in/with publicly-traded companies and knowledge in IFRS highly preferred
•Experience in full cycle accounting including accounts payable, bank reconciliation and general ledger maintenance;
•Experience in month end or quarter end closing and preparing monthly / quarterly working papers including prepaid amortization, fixed asset depreciation, expense accrual etc;
•Experience in internal controls (esp. SOX compliance) is preferred
•Experience in payroll is preferred;
•Experience in US GAAP would be an asset;
•Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and great attention to details;
•Experience with QuickBooks would be an asset
•Ability to handle multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment;
•A team player who can work independently with minimum supervision; and
•Good knowledge in MS Office products.
