We are a Calgary-based junior upstream oil and gas company focused on exploration and production across Western Canada. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with deep knowledge of Canadian oil and gas tax and corporate reporting standards to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
•Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements (ASPE or IFRS).
•Classify and track capital expenditures under Canadian tax rules: CDE, CEE, COGPE, CCA Class 41, etc.
•Prepare and manage depreciation schedules (tax vs. book depreciation).
•Lead the preparation and filing of T2 Corporate Tax Returns, including Schedules 8, 12, 13, and 50.
•Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements (ASPE or IFRS).
•Provide tax planning support for capital projects and operational spending.
•Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors.
•Maintain accurate financial and tax records to support CRA reviews or audits.
•Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure tracking.
Qualifications:
•CPA designation (or in advanced standing toward CPA).
•Minimum 5 years of Canadian accounting experience, including at least 3 years in the upstream oil & gas industry.
•In-depth understanding of Canadian tax regulations related to oil & gas.
•Strong working knowledge of financial reporting standards and asset classification.
•Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
•Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills.
