Position Overview
The Senior Accountant assists in the complex accounting-related activities for residential, commercial, multifamily and land management projects/holdings to ensure company and investor assets are properly safeguarded and accurate and timely accounting information is provided to all management.
Responsibilities
•Assist with system implementations and conversions.
•Help support the process of maintaining the company’s accounting policies and internal controls.
•Conduct financial accounting analysis to identify trends, variances, and deviations that should be brought to management’s attention.
•Calculate lot costs for all developments and maintain cost-per-lot schedules.
•Calculate and allocate common area costs between phases and entities.
•Prepare construction loan draws for development projects.
•Monitor special projects and ensure compliance with company and investor business practices and policies.
•Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual entity financial statements, including reconciliation of intercompany, AR, AP, installment note activity, cost per lot true ups, and capitalizing sec 266 expenses.
•Prepare and/or assist in preparation of federal and state tax returns for partnerships, corporations, trusts and individuals.
•Process payments to third parties through invoice coding review and approval.
•Review mortgage pay off statements and monitor the collection of mortgage loans and rents.
•Consolidate and review monthly borrowing reports for accurate tracking of loan activity and payment of interest to lenders.
Education/Experience/Skills
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, master’s degree in accounting or MBA preferred
•Certified Public Accountant, preferred
•4+ years related experience; public accounting and industry experience preferred
•Experience with Quickbooks, Sage Intacct and/or Microsoft Dynamics accounting software
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
