Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. Duties/Responsibilities:
•Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
•Assist in year end audit, financial statement preparation and periodic internal reporting.
•Assists Corporate Controller and accounting manager in establishing internal controlsand guidelines for accounting transactions.
•Creates monthly invoices for our load serving customers.
•Assists Corporate Controller in ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
•Assist Corporate Controller in developing accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper controls and financial reporting.
•Communicate with our internal Mid-office team to resolve any discrepancies when preparing load customer invoices.
•Assists Corporate Controller on ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government tax requirements.
•Review journal entries and account reconciliations for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
•Assists and serves as a backup for AR/AP.
•Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements:
•Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift up to15 pounds at times.
•In office Monday – Thursday
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
•Three years minimum of related accounting experience required.
•Experience in the energy industry preferred.
•Strong understanding of U.S GAAP.
•Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Intacct/Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
•Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
